Reflection on Eleanor Roosevelt's Essay

This essay really opened my eyes on the influence that Eleanor Roosevelt must have held back in the 1930s and 1940s. Before reading this essay, whenever a thought came to me about F.D.R.'s presidency I usually focused only on F.D.R., the New Deal, and World War Two. I never really thought of Eleanor Roosevelt as a first lady who really made an impact on the state of her nation. Obviously though, if she was as criticized as she claimed for her variety of interests than she must have had real heft in the hearts of the citizens of the country.
